Cambodia's Shame [on Australia's SBS TV]

A recent spate of horrific sexual assaults in India has led to worldwide condemnation, but new research shows that attacks such as gang rape are far more common in Asia than people think.

In Cambodia, rape is seen almost as a rite for passage for some young men, who feel peer pressure to force women into group sex.

On Tuesday’s Dateline, Aela Callan comes face to face with some of the rapists to try and find out why they attack, and to question their belief that they’re doing nothing wrong.

And she meets the victims, left with physical and mental injuries, and a lasting toll for them and their families.

So what can be done to change this disturbing behaviour?

WATCH - See her story on Tuesday at 9.30pm on SBS ONE.
