Robbery failure because of police intervention

One of the victim is calling to family after meeting robbery attempt

PHNOM PENH (The Cambodia Herald) -- A group of thieves failed to steal a 2013 Honda Scoopy from its owners, when police patrolling the area, opened fire after seeing the robbery attempt.

The incident took place Wednesday night along Monivong Blvd in Boeung Keng korng III, in the district of Chamkar Morn.

The victims were identified as  Chhoun Saron, 33, a sales woman and Ah Mei, 35.

Police said, the three thieves were riding a 2012 Honda Scoopy and took out a meat cleaver to threaten the women after making  them lose control and fall of their motorcycle.

The stupefied thieves fled the scene of the crime with only victim's motorbike key after the police intervened, leaving the cleaver behind, police added.
