PHILIPPA Hindmarsh is embarking on a journey of a lifetime to help out children in Cambodia.
The 23-year-old will take on the Cambodian countryside on her bike, and travel 300km raising money to help teach children.
The
Cambodia Challenge will see Philippa head off for two weeks to the
Asian Pacific country, and teach kids skills so they can support
themselves and their community in the future.
"It's an opportunity for me to give back."
"I'm lucky I get the chance to help and have on impact on their lives" she said.
The local sportswoman is keen for the cycling part of the trip, but also to teach the kids about financial literacy.
"I just finished a Bachelor of Accounting at CQUniversity last year."
"The
opportunity to teach financial literacy in schools, and the chance to
ride appealed to me because of my background in cycling," Philippa said.
Along with helping kids in local villages along her ride, Philippa is excited to experience Cambodia by bike.
"Its going to be like mountain bike riding, which I haven't done too much of, I see that as a challenge."
But
Philippa has been cycling for 10 years, and is hoping that her training
will make the challenge a bit easier, so she has a chance to take in
her surroundings on the ride.
A fundraiser will be held next month to help raise money for Philippa's trip.
She will be heading off on her adventure on June 3.
