Cambodian PM calls for calmness as hearing over border dispute with Thailand approaches

PHNOM PENH, April 11(Xinhua) — Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen (pictured) on Thursday appealed to Cambodian citizens and armed forces to keep calm as Cambodia and Thailand are scheduled to deliver oral statements to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) next week in the case concerning the hotly-disputed land around the Preah Vihear Temple.
“Even though a handful of Thai extremists have marched to the border near Preah Vihear Temple–Thai government and army has also had difficulty with this group, I’d like to appeal to Cambodian people and armed forces to keep cool, as next week is the time for an oral hearing, not the time for a verdict release,” the premier said during the inauguration of new achievements at a Buddhist pagoda in eastern Prey Veng province.
He said the court’s verdict will be issued at the end of the year.
The ICJ awarded Preah Vihear Temple to Cambodia on June 15, 1962, but Thailand, in 2008, claimed the ownership of 4.6 square kilometers (1.8 square miles) of scrub next to the temple.
Sporadic armed clashes between the two sides’ troops had happened since July 2008 when the UNESCO listed the temple as a World Heritage Site and the clashes burst out on large scales in February and April 2011 during Thailand’s Democrat Party rule.

In April 2011, Cambodia asked the ICJ to interpret the judgment of June 15, 1962 in the case concerning the Preah Vihear Temple.
In July 2011, the court ordered that Cambodia and Thailand must immediately withdraw their military personnel from the court- defined Provisional Demilitarized Zone of 17.3 square kilometers surrounding the temple.
The two countries are scheduled to deliver their oral statements on the dispute to the ICJ in the Netherlands on April 15-19, and the court is expected to issue a decision on who owns the disputed land around the Preah Vihear Temple later this year.
The Preah Vihear Temple is located on the top of a 525-meter cliff in the Dangrek Mountains bordering Thailand. It is situated about 500 kilometers northwest of Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia.

Hun Sen : 4.6 km in Preah Vihear is rather small , compared to 10 km in Pailin . Keep cool & go to sleep .

Agreed, but even a whimp with modern air powers and missiles can do a lot of damages to our forces at the front lines and infrastructures.

We MUST fight Siam with COURAGES and MODERN ATI- AIR SAM, LONG RANGE ARTILLERY SYSTEMS, ENOUGH AMMUNITIONS TO LAST THE WHOLE COURSE OF WAR. Our peoples must have the wills to go through another suffering of hardships and casualties.

We MUST also build up friends to back us up at the international level. We MUST not repeat past mistakes that these Siam thieves played on us in the past. We MUST be rudeless, created havoc on them and yet NOT
committed war crimes. If war starts we MUST be willing to accept high causalties on military personels and civilians. It will devastated what ever we had accomplished in the past decades. Fight them until VICTORY or stalemate where these thieves think twices before they try to take our land again.

To fight the Siam thieves, we must aim the missles into Ah Hun Sen's house. Under Ah Hun Sen Khmer will never be at peace with the neighbours.

During the election AH Hun Sen uses the border dispute to get people to side with him. This is how AH Hun Sen the Vietnamese animal controls the country.

Fear of losing the country and fear of losing the land.

France gave two Khmer Provinces to Thailand . At the same time , France took three
Khmer Provinces from Thailand , returned them to Cambodia .
Why Khmers have lived better lives under Thai rulers than the one who have lived
under Khmer rulers ? - Pol Pot ( Khmer ) killed million Khmers , how many Khmers
killed by Thai king ? Khmer Krom citizens are suppressed everyday , do Khmer Surin
have the same fate too ?
- Khmers under Hun Sen keep crossing the border to Thailand everyday , for their
survival and better pays to support their families .
Because of his ignorance , Hun Sen has no mean to protect Khmers dignity & territorial
integrity . Thailand & Vietnam are encroaching - What's Hun Sen benefit from Vietnam
protection & vis versa ? Hun Sen gave KOH TRAL to Vietnam without a fight . Several
Khmer villages were cut & gave to Vietnam by Hun Sen , willingly . We got Angkor
from Thailand , now Hun Sen signed Angkor concession to Vietnam ( Sok Kong ) for longer than King Chey Chetha 2 's Prey Nokor concession .
