Cambodia on Tuesday conducted a live fire drill in order to strengthen
capacity for the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces in defending territory
integrity.
"BM-21 rocket launchers and 130-mm artillery were fired during the exercise," Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Tea Banh said while presiding over the drill at a military exercise field in Kampong Speu province, about 70 km west of Phnom Penh.
"The exercise is to test our new weapon technologies."
The drill was attended by some 1,450 soldiers. About 98 BM-21 shells and 24 artillery shells were fired.
"Our troops have successfully completed the drill, all shells hit the targets," he told reporters after the event.
Lt. Gen. Eth Sarath, deputy commander-in-chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, said the fire was classified into two phases: the fire of BM-21 rockets in the distance of 16 km and the fire of 130-mm artillery.
"The exercise is to show national prestige, not to threaten any countries," he said, adding that the drill was made after the troops had been trained for four months.

It was the second time that Cambodia conducted the live fire drill with BM-21 rockets. The first such exercise took place in March 2010, when 215 shells were fired and all hit the target in the distance between 20 km and 40 km.
Cambodia started to strengthen defense capacity since it has territorial dispute with Thailand in 2008. The dispute had triggered several deadly armed clashes between troops of the two countries.

Khmer needs to improve defenses
so far, still can not compared to VIET & THAI,,
With 80% of the Khmer forests destroyed , the BM21s are just like the slow turtles in Arabia sand for the modern
US made airfighters . The rubber tyres catch fire easily .
They are good against armed gerrilla fighters or innocent
dwellers in towns & villages .
Yea, that's why the last battles with Siam April 2011. Siam forward military out posts had smoke all the way to the sky. Siam main power grids at border was knocked out. Siam called our front lines commanders first for a seize fire. These weapons are not too exoensive. When you use in a limited war it's very effective if you combined with GPS targets coordinations. Siam will not able to use all their so called mighty air powers because the International communities opinions will turn against them if they launch a full scale invasion on post- Pol Pot era. Current Cambodian military are not match Siam capability but Khmers are not push over. RCAF had quietly purchase some modern equipments, some are old tech but still very capable. At Khmer- Siam border areas fighting Siam got more to loose than Khmer because their side infrastructures are well developed and BM-21 rockets, 130 mm shells, 125mm shells, 105mm shells will do a lot of damage. At Khmer side we still had only a few important infrastructures. So you can see Siam knew this also. Our military even though not well trained, equipped, organized & lead but our troops and front lines commanders are very motivated and well experiences than Siam. Khmer soldiers are very experiences and motivated when it come to kill Siam. Khmer had hatred for Siam for centuries after of what they done to us.
If Thailand wants to invade Khmerland , she will use Vietnam strategy that is
Khmains to fight against xmers . Khmers have been divided with big gap ; when time
is ripe , Thailand will take action unless Hun Sen ignore Thai encroachment . When
Khmer & Thai exchanged fire last time , no report of casualty of Khmers side but
the world can only guess from the appearance of Mr Defense Spokesman who shed
tears in front of reporters' cameras ? Khmer propaganda outlets said that Thai were
killed by thousand ; Thai said only one high officer was killed ?
Will China play the French role to be the Cambodia Protector ? China stood by &
watched Yuon chased Pol Pot to Khmer-Thai border . China will turn her face away
from Khmer- Siam who will chase Hun Sen to Hanoi .

It started as,Moha techo fool,Hun Sen sent Sok Ang to ask Bangkok for the endorsement from the Thai foreign minister in June 2008,The Pad learned about it and they suspected that Cambodian side or Hun Sen's clans,who run the country were not quite sure about the Preah Vihear temple and land adjacent to it,so they launched their aggressive campaign to claim it by hiding the old map and produced the new one,they called it overlapping.
The important question here why does Moha techo-fool-man,Hun Sen, NEED to ask Bangkok,in the first place?, for that endorsement ,as world heritage site,if one truly believe that it is our historical heritage or property?
Do they,CPP,know that Thai and Viet have no history? They are simply Thieves,but somehow the CPP have always been feeding the hyena and crocodile,who is always have some excuses to claim more land? as overlapping for Thai;protruding or land swapping for Hanoi.
This because simply Hanoi and Bangkok feel that the CPP is a bunch of zombie puppet that they have ever seen,and therefore it become their best opportunities to feed their desires. I can tell you what with the previous khmer governments from Sangkom Reaniyum to Khmer Republic ,60's-75, both Bangkok and Hanoi would never dare to do that.

Thai army took a parcel delivery of 85 Ukrian made 155 mm 30 cannon tubes of Multiple missile launchers early 2013 came with the price tag of $135 million . In September 2013, a batch of 25 US made 155 mm MRLS. with the price tag of $ 90 million.

Cambodia is poor so it can't have an arms race with Thailand. Cambodia will go bankrupt. Thailand got hundreds of fighter jets, Cambodia got none.

9:34 am keep on dreaming about Siam will win. Siam is not as powerful and bravery as Vietnamese. Siam are cowards who hide behind their mighty weapons. Last year Khmer forces with less older weapons were able to hold these cowards Siam. Now 2 years later Khmer are better equipped and trained. Last fight idiot the reasons the Defense spokesman cried because he felt emotional for his troops and one of Khmer top commander was killed because these cowards Siam sneak and shot him from behind. Now 2013 we still controlled Prasat Ta Krabey, Prasat Ta Moan. The only reasons an unarmed Siam soldiers at those areas because Khmer forces were trying to avoid another fights to save our Khmer lives. Khmer will never get along with Siam like they with Vietnamese.
Where are your sources? Siam had always had weapons superiority over Cambodian military since the modern time. We Khmer had fought against most these weapons before in the 60's, 70's. American were more trained and braver than Siam lady boys and American force had air powers and knew how to use it. Siam are not even 15% capable of U.S forces
in the Vietnam war. Not even one hair of
Khmers raise up. What's good of are these weapons when the owners are cowards ?
Last battles last year Siam used most of these weapons on Khmer forces even banded cluster munitions, chemical to kill maximum of Khmer lives. We still controlled these areas after 5 years of disputes clashes. There will be no full scale war between Cambodia & Thailand because of ASEAN integration coming. Khmers with any weapons had never afraid of Siam lady boys. WE ARE ALL ANGKOR DESCENDANTS OF KHMER EMPIRE BLOOD LINES. Even when we were loosing to Siam trickeries but Khmers still fight on.
