Cambodia calls for peace talks on Korean Peninsula

PHNOM PENH, 2 April 2013 (The Cambodia Herald) -- Government officials appealed  to North and South Korea’s leaders to return to six-party talks to solve the issues peacefully on the Korean peninsula.

Koy Kuong, spokesman for Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, said,"this issue was raised once before by Prime Minister Hun Sen when he chaired ASEAN and urged both sides to stop the conflict and return to talks."

He said, Cambodia hopes that the two countries, North and South Korea, just threaten each other through words, but if the threat turns into war, it would be disastrous for the peninsula.

"The Cambodian government hasn't yet reacted to the tensions in South Korea, where Cambodian citizens work and study, because we are waiting to see if the situation changes," Koy Kuong said.

South Korea’s new president on Monday promised a strong military response to any North Korean provocation after Pyongyang announced that the two countries were now "in a state of war".

The US military said Monday, it had deployed Two F-22 Raptors to South Korea as part of an ongoing joint military exercise that has triggered dire North Korean threats of armed retribution.

While Hun Sen ignores the call of International Parliament for reconciliation with Sam Ransi , Khmer Government calls the two sides of Korea for Peace negotiation .

Hun Sen is a hypocrite, he pretended to call for peace and reconciliation in the Korean peninsula, but why can't he make peace and reconciliation with Sam Rainsy?
