US Ambassador meets with Youth Council

PHNOM PENH, 15 March 2013 (The Cambodia Herald) -- U.S. Ambassador William E. Todd held discussions Friday with members of his Youth Council to talk about topics based on freedom of speech, for the media, elections, youth involvement, and corruption.  The Youth members also engaged in team-building activities with some high school students from the U.S. Embassy who shared an American's perspective on the challenges Cambodian youths are  facing.

The Council started an internship program to provide young Cambodians with some valuable work experience and has organized country-wide movie screenings, at the end of March, for the film “Half the Sky” to raise awareness for human trafficking.

Ambassador Todd established the Youth Council in Jun 2012 to help build a more effective cooperation between the U.S. and Cambodia with an aim to cultivate young leaders around Cambodia also to generate feedback on U.S. Policy and programs within the country.

This is probably one of the most effective American projects in and for Cambodia.
