Energy Minister Suy Sem defended the bill. "The hydropower dam construction project on the Sesan has been evaluated two times already with full discussions," he told lawmakers.
The approval went along party lines, with the ruling Cambodian People's Party supporting the project while opposition lawmakers called for a delay.
Yim Sovan, from the Sam Rainsy Party, said the delay would let experts and civil society examine the project in more detail amid concerns from residents of 12 communities.
But Cheam Yeap, chairman of the National Assembly Commission on Economy, Finance, Banking and Audit, said the government and company had already studied the impact and offered proper compensation.
Civil society groups also expressed concern about the project, notably the different estimates of the number of villagers affected along the Sesan and Sre Pok rivers.

I smell disaster and domino's affect causes by the Dam on people who likelihood realizing on this River and also environmental impact on creatures that lives down stream will be extinct due to the flood causes by the water.
This dam only benefit the small percentage of those whose can afford to buy an electricity from this company and shareholders Chinese,yieknamese and Cpp thugs whose put the money to create this catastrophic project without regard of consequence causes by this dam afterward.
Cpp gov't should weight the benefit vers consequences is going to happen when the project is finished.The consequential would be relocation of thousand upon thousand of people down stream and who is going to pay for these relocation folks? I think it unwise to choose to build the Dam to benefit small percentage of Cpp thugs and Chinese and yieknamese company and let poor Khmers suffer....

STOP been against just because opposition said so. I am not a CPP supporter but Cambodia needs energy to sustain our growing economy and reduce our poverty. To reduce our dependent on our neighbors who always look down and take advantage of us. We must move forward not backward. THERE ARE ALWAYS A SIDE EFFECTS WHEN YOU DO THINGS. Opposition party can play a role to keep an eyes for corruption in a large project like this.

You need to pay attention to the Environment Disaster that destroy the living things and habitats in the Natural environment in Cambodia. This will destroy the food productions in Cambodia. You just enjoy the shitty environment that is not very healthy.
Guess you are not well educated yourself. Say something to save the natural resources. Those CPP clans and crooks are a bunch of educated thieves coming from the Communist Vietcong working side by side with stupid/dumb Hun Sen, a real jungle bastard along with dumb Cambodian and Yuon/CPP leaders who are so corrupted and uneducated officials.
