PHNOM PENH, 9 October 2012 (Cambodia Herald) - Opposition Sam Rainsy Party Son Chhay has
urged US President Barack Obama to ensure that the Paris Peace
Agreements of 1991 have been effectively adopted.
The appeal made Thursday noted that the United States was one the the signatories to the agreements, which led to UN-backed elections in 1993 and a new Cambodian constitution.
"Myanmar is an existing example in which discussions of parties in that country could solve national issues effectively," he said.
Obama leaves Washington for Cambodia, Myanmar and Thailand on November 17.
