PHNOM PENH, 24 October 2012 (Cambodia Herald) - The General Department of Prisons at the
Ministry of Interior has no plans to pardon prisoners after seven days
of mourning for the late King Father, a senior official said Wednesday.
"We have not yet been advised," Director General Kuy Bunsorn said.
Political analysts including Prince Sisowath Thomico, the King Father’s former assistant, have urged the government to pardon "political" prisoners.
Names mentioned have included Beehive Radio owner Mam Sonando, now serving 20 years for secession, and Sam Rainsy, the exiled opposition leader who has been sentenced to 10 years for forgery and uprooting border posts.
The government typically pardons prisoners during big national events such as the Water Festival and the King’s Birthday.

MP Dr. Sam Rainsy should have not been a prisoner
from the beginning.
The rightful prisoner should and must be Hun Sen.

Sam Rainsii is a Khmer Hero. Mom Sonado is a Khmer hero.
Why is Ah Hun Sen, a former Khmer Rouge, a killer, still free to kill the Khmer?
