President: Iran, Cambodia have high potentials for enhancing ties
(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - President Ahmadinejad made the above comments in a meeting with the visiting Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen on the sidelines of the 16th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit in Tehran on Thursday.

'Iran and Cambodia should work for advancement of their bilateral ties in all areas more than before and the embassies of both countries should become more active than before,' the president said while referring to the fact that Iran and Cambodia have always had friendly ties.

Referring to the existing potentials in the field of technical and economic investments, President Ahmadinejad expressed hope that a joint technical, economic and trade commission would be formed between Iran and Cambodia as soon as possible in order to pave the way for taking suitable decisions for enhancement of ties.

'Islamic Republic of Iran faces no restriction in boosting cooperation with Cambodia and both ountries should work for further cooperation,' the president added.

Referring to the holding of Non-Aligned Movement summit in Tehran, President Ahmadinejad said that participation of all member-states is an effective parameter for success of NAM summit.

'All member-states should help in order to be able to take better decisions and take more effective measures,' he added.

How come Hun sen like to do business with rogue states like Iran, North Korea and communist state like China? Why not with America, UK, France, Germany or Japan? It is because Hun Sen is an international pariah.

Poor question!! Why not with America, UK, France, Germany or Japan?

If talking about business, I thought that you know better than people in Srok-Khmer and do you how many billions of dollars each year to export things to America?

Why dont you guys search foreign relations of Cambodia. Sometime some of us go overboard. Like USA is this, China is that, why North Korea is our friend, what about Japan. Do some research on our foreign relations. Cambodia regardless of our leadership be it corrupt or incorrupt have a right to befriend anyone and everyone including our ancient rivals. Taking side will only split the world in two. I guess some of us want to be so pro USA or China, We should be Neither. CPP Guy

8:23 PM, There is no question that Cambodia had relations with most countries in the world. I agree that we should not discriminate and must have good relations with most countries in the world. However, the difference is the cozy relationship and the cold relationship. Cambodia under Hun Sen had very cozy/close relationships with most communist/dictatorship countries, like Iran, China, Vietnam, North Korea, Cuba and so on, but had very cold relationships with the free world, like the US, UK, Canada, Australia or Japan.

The same with business. Hun Sen did not do much to facilitate investments from the free world who are law-abiding investors. As such, we don't see many honest investors from America, UK, Canada or Japan because investors in these countries don't Cambodian laws or corrupt authority. However, we saw a lot of corrupt investors from communist and corrupt countries investing in Cambodia because corruption is ripe in Cambodia which only facilitate those who are willing to pay bribes to do business, but deprive honest investors to do business in Cambodia because they are unwilling to pay bribes or it is illegal under the law of their countries to pay bribes.

Hun Sen likes to have cozy relationship with dictators because Hun Sen and them are birds of the same feathers. This is my point.
