Past commune election results

PHNOM PENH, 3 June 2012 (Cambodia Herald) - The local elections being held across Cambodia Sunday involve 10 parties competing for 11,459 seats in 1,633 communes.

In the last commune election in 2007, the Cambodian People's Party won 7,993 of the 11,353 seats up for grabs. The Sam Rainsy Party ranked next with 2,660 seats followed by the Norodom Ranariddh Party with 425, Funcinpec with 274 and the Hang Dara Democratic Movement with one seat.

In the first commune election in 2002, the CPP won 7,703 of the 11,261 seats being contested. Funcinpec Party ranked next with 2,211 seats followed by the Sam Rainsy Party with 1,346 seats and the Khmer Democratic Party with one seat.
