More than 100 business people to accompany Hun Sen to Vietnam

PHNOM PENH, 23 June 2012 (Cambodia Herald) - More than 100 business people are accompanying Prime Minister Hun Sen to a trade and investment conference in a Mekong Delta town in Vietnam this weekend, sources said.

The conference, to be held in Ha Tien across the border from Kampong Trach in Kampot province on Sunday, is also expected to be attended by Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung. The two leaders are also scheduled to inaugurate the final marker along the border between the two countries.

"The prime minister will explain investment in Cambodia to prominent Vietnamese business people," said a Cambodian businessman who asked not to be named. He said at least 110 Cambodian business people would join the conference.

Foreign investment in Cambodia increased from $2.9 billion in 2010 to an estimated $7.3 billion in 2011, with Vietnam accounting for $691 million, up from $153 million in 2010.

Vietnamese companies have invested in many sectors including banking, hydropower, telecommunications and rubber.
