Published: 01-Mar-12PHNOM PENH (Cambodia Herald) – Sam Rainsy Party Deputy President Kong Korm (pictured) has appealed to Cambodia People's Party (CPP) Chairman Chea Sim for significant positions in the newly-elected upper house including vice president, committee presidents, chief secretary and other positions, sources said Thursday.
In a letter to Chea Sim, who is also president of the outgoing Senate, the deputy opposition party leader asked for minority members to have the same treatment as under the first and second legislatures.
Kong Korm also urged the CPP chairman to cooperate with the Sam Rainsy Party in seeking a non-permanent seat for Cambodia at the United Nations Security Council.
There was no immediate response from Chea Sim.
