PHNOM PENH (Cambodia Herald) – The opposition Sam Rainsy Party has accused a policeman in Kompong Cham province of threatening to kill the entire family of a party member.
Men Sothavrin, head of the party's provincial council, said the incident occurred at the house of Touk Vuch in Tang Krosav commune in Prasat Sambo district.
He said a uniformed police officer came to the house Sunday and asked to see Touk Vouch, a candidate in commune elections in June. When his wife declined to get him, the policeman threatened to shoot the whole family to death, Men Sothavrin said.
The Sam Rainsy Party's provincial branch urged the Ministry of Interior to take immediate steps to bring the policeman to justice and to avoid similar incidents in the future.
