The Khmer Rouge were more patriotic than Hun Sen

Re: Vietnam relationship back in KRT spotlight [Nuon Chea accused Vietnam of wanting to swallow Cambodia]

Dear All!!

If you want Lok Ta Nuon Chea and other to speak out, you should ask the UN to conduct the Khmer Rouge trial in a real democratic country. In Cambodia, they can`t speak much. The government will not allow them to speak out and the Vietnamese spy will poison them. The Khmer co-prosecutors are not the real Khmers.

I can not support what the Khmer Rouge have done and say the Khmer Rouge leaders are good. Their regime and strategy are not forgivable. They chose a wrong policy, but their purpose is to prevent Cambodia from being swallowed by the Vietnamese aggressor. They could protect Khmer territory. Only in the KR regime was Koh Tral under the Khmer control. On the other hand, the current regime has not done anything to protect Khmer territory, they just want to stay in control and keep power, no specific plan to protect our territory and always allow foreign and local evils to destroy the country.

The Sangkum Reastr Niyum regime of our former king is not perfect, but under his regime, the country was developed, people lived in good condition, forests and underground mineral resources were not destroyed and Cambodia did not have much foreign debt. Government officials and factory workers were well paid, enough to maintain and feed their families.

But what about the current situation?? Only the leaders` families and their clans are rich. Our natural resources are mostly destroyed. If you all are Khmers and want to help Cambodia, please come to Cambodia and do some thing for this poor nation. I will not support you to carry out terrorist activities, but I will support you if you use your good education and a good method to help this poor nation.

Helping the poor through NGO activities or proper investments is the best way to help this poor nation of ours. What we must have is unity. Even if the Vietnamese are living everywhere in our country and the population of the Vietnamese immigrants in Cambodia reaches more than 1/3 of Cambodia's population, we still have a chance to save the country, if all Khmers are united!

I possess three Master degrees in Finance, Accounting, and Business Management from American University and, in three year, would like to teach English, Math, and Business in country side to children that can't afford or access to such education. I seek no salary or join any NGO but would like to know how to get started when I arrive there. My devotions are free of charge including teaching materials from here in the US. I was in Cambodia in 1995 when I was a co-founder of Cambodian Orphanage Children Fund in Battambang Province that was signed and supported by then king Sihanouk. After two years of raising money to support the charity, I later find out the proceed never reach the Children and was embezzled amongst members. I resigned and hoping to once again lend a hand to help my fellow Khmer. Your feed back is appreciated.

As a Khmer-American, I would not set any factory in Cambodia. You are only supporting the Hun Sen. Let Hun Sen go beg China for the development money. The Khmer people need to fight for themselves. Nobody is going to fight for you. Freedom is not cheap!!

"...the Vietnamese are living everywhere in our country and the population of the Vietnamese immigrants in Cambodia reaches more than 1/3 of Cambodia's population..."

Let's stop this lie. There are no more than 200-300 thousands of them. What this lie does is it put us at a disadvantage believing that they're everywhere and harder to fight. How can this be true when they're in the country for 10-15 years? How can anyone transform themselves in 10-15 into another race and not recognizable? Look at our overseas Cambodians who have been away from the country 30 - 40 years, are we any less Cambodians or not recognizable when we're with other nationalities?

If the khmer rouge leaders were not too paranoid and almost 2 millions died, they would have been very patriotic.

2:08 AM, I suggest you talk to other NGOs such as Licadho, Adhoc, Cambodian Center for Human Rights in Cambodia or other NGOs that are currently operating in Cambodia etc, to see what they can advise you. Or you can talk to the Interior Ministry which is in charge of the registration of all NGOs in Cambodia. You have the right skills and right attitude to set up a successful NGO in Cambodia, so please try. Best of luck!

I wish I could help :( Hun Sen plays a fake role in democracy, unfortunately its not. Hes still has a taste for communism. Lack of knowledge from the PM and his party because they were former members of the Khmer Rouge themselves! Its time for the people to go against these filthy rich leaders. I wish Hilary Clinton put an end to Hun Sen and his party.

I don`t understand how the author can compare between Hun Sen and KR. You say the KR are more patriot by what standard? Killing anyone that looks different? They did`nt just kill those who are either Viet, but everyone in between. How is that patriotic?

The problem right now is not Hun Sen. The problem is the rest of Khmer in the country and abroad. Can we united to become a formidable force? Are we willing to die for our cause? That is the BILLION DOLLAR question.

The KR ARE PATRIOTIC? what king of patriotism? Yes The Partiotism a la Khmer Rouge! A kind of ultra-racism! An ultraracist regime that million of people!

The Sangkum Reatr Niyum was merely an autocratic regime with all power in the Hand of one man who was venered like god.

The SRN did nothing to educate and empower the people, did nothing to improve the Economy. Everything was Owned by the State: Sonatex, Sonaprim, SonaPUT....The corruption was immense among Government officials, and the PDG of the State Factories.

The SRN was the "Regime of Father of everything"(Beida and YES YES, Kneeling, crouching...).

Eventually the SRN was the Regime of Hay EU, HAY EU,A CHEY Thlak Tuk.

And now the Hun Sen Regime is copying on the SRN: Corruption, Cult of the peronality (of Hun Sen and MEE Kahing), Demagogy,
Demagogy, oppression....

The Same: A Khdor Na is similar to A KHDOR NA.

When compared Hun Sen regime to others.

We know that today, millions of Vietnamese are freely flowing into Khmer. We know that our country's land and country's resource are stolen and sold to the Vietnamese or Chinese. We also know that Hun Sen Regime has tried to recreate history and hailed as a hero with backed up supports from the Vietnamese. We also know that Hun Sen is fluent in Vietnamese along with his VietMinh blood brothers who also worked for Pol Pot.

So during the Sangkum Reatr Niyum Regime, we know that teachers and middle class society were well paid, $1000 per month, some say. We also know that Laws and orders were strict, officials were strict but no crimes or murders ever occurs against the low class income. We also know that many industry flourished and our city was also known as the "Pearl of Asia". We also know, our country was known for its high quality life, from film industry, music industry and entertainment industry. We also know that education was important, education programs were set up for students to study abroad in France or Europe, Russia.

Todays, the rich gets richer, the poor gets poorer, the dumb gets dumber.

My question is, do we still want a coward, uneducated, high-school dropout, VietMinh to run our nation another 30 years by driving the country into more unpaid debt with everything belonging to the CPP and Youn?

You call Hun Sen a drop out while those who hold a degree can't even topple him. You guys make me laugh. You can claim he use force against his opponents but why the opponents can't come up with a intellectual solution?

Give the Guy due credit when its due.

I do not support Hun Sen regime nor affiliated with any party. It just make me wonder why people feel the need to degrade a person when all you can just say is I don't like his policy or ideology.

Thank you very much for your goodwill. I will support you whereever you want to teach. We can start from orphanage, element or junior high school in Battambang, Konpong Cham or Siem Reap. Please contact me through this mail, kenichi.sato81@gmail.com

I can coordinate and spend some budget for the project.

Noone is calling him a drop out. We are calling him a dictator. Murderer of his people, selling the nation for personal power.

What is your solution to end his crime sprees? Kill his families one by one, to payback for all those he killed?

I think the Court is long overdue for justice.

Answer
I accepted "the 1/3 of VN people in Cambodia" was exaggerated, if we think about the people in whole country. But if we look only in PNH city it is true. If you want to know I can guide you around, I can point at the VN`s block. And in the province, the town of Kratie province, Snoul, Memot,Suong Chlong, Siem Reap city, Battambang, Neak Leung, Bavet, Sihanuk Ville(almost half), Kompot, And now even in Pailin , Samlot and Anlong Veng. In Battambang not only in the city but in the village. Not only 10-15 years, Most of them came since after 1979. Some who escaped before Pol Pot and returned back can speak Khmer, the new members can`t speak well but their children can speak, write very well since they educated in Cambodia. Some of CPP leader married VN wife. Of course some of them can easily recognized but some of them difficult. They are richer than Khmer and protected. Some of regional CPP leaders told their children not to fight with Vietnamese, VN stroger than us". In Cambodia money=power, Power=Money. I give you one example, two owners ( one is khmer, one is VN)run a coffe shop next door. And they screened erotic film. The police caught Khmer owner first. This is the real thing. Most of police chiefs are originally VN. In Memot and Snoul, they show off their identity, wearing DUON (VN hat), and dress. Some of them get rich through illegal business, logging, drug and smuggling, for woman since they are white n cute, work in Karaok or do as mistress.

If you are Khmer and patriot should choose intellectual sollution and work smart.

Firstly you should learn about the history. Why we fail to save the nation. Not all leaders, excepted the current dictator, are betrayers, they want to save the country, even former King, Sirimatak, Pol Pot, and some of former CPP leaders, wanted to get out from VN. But why when they got power, they could not stabalize the regime and allow VN to take control over us. Th eanswer is " no compromise" "Dictatorship" " Lack of solidarity" and "addicted to the power". Even now, if all opposition parties included royalist tie up together, still have chance. The ideal is to re establish " The Democratic Party" and choose the leader, characteristically similar to Sisowath Youthevong. This is the ideal but the realistic might be unable. The realism, SRP should change the vision and policy to accept monarchy, not merge but just tie up with other parties in election. Just like share the vote and split the block like in other countries, if two parties tie up together, Party A ask their supporter to vote for party B in Block 1 which party A can`t expect to win by itself. In block 2, party B ask their supporters to vote for Party A. It will eleminate the loss of vote. Another more SRP should change their slogan from the amition of becoming ruling party to just increasing the voice in parliment. People now can`t trust opposition party in leading the country since they don`t have enough human resource. If just increase the voice to prevent the current leader from doing somewhat reckless things. Should choose the smart critism straitegy.

My comments are definitely for the bloggers and some politicians who don`t openly say it.

My point is, if you could`nt understand the most laymen form. We should not have to lower ourselves into degrading people or personally attacking them. You can only win; when we all unite for the common cause and not for personal gains, fame, and glory. Because I just describe every oppositions party right there for you.

Your quick response sounds emotional. Try thinking before you react. For action, there is re-action

3:52 PM, you are right, no intellectual can topple Hun Sen because intellectuals only use political and diplomatic solution, while a thug like Hun Sen will use whatever mean necessary to topple his opponents. It has been proven many times that Hun Sen had used forces to topple his opponents. First, Hun Sen used forces to arrest Pen Sovan in 1981. Second, he used force to bully his way into a coalition government in 1993 even when he lost the election already. In 1997, he staged a coup against the elected party, Funcinpec and then cheated to win the 1998, 2003 and 2008 elections. And now he is using forces to arrest Chea Sim's loyalists.

Anyone can topple Hun Sen if they are as brutal and as power-hungry as him. The fact that they can't topple him is because they want to use peaceful mean like through election etc, but they can't because he cheated, control the election and use force to intimidate voters and his opponents.

1:43 PM, so what is the difference with Hun Sen? He is more than an autocratic leader, he is a dictator. All powers in Cambodia now is now in the hand of Hun Sen, being supported by his cronies.

The difference is during the Sankum Reastr Niyum teachers, civil servants and all government employees were well paid, enough to support their families very well. There were no evictions, no land grabbing, no land and forests and mining concessions to foreigners. People lived peacefully and everyone have a house to live, enough to eat because no evictions. There were corruption, but not to the level we've seen today. It's true that Hun Sen has copied everything from the SRN, but he has gone even further because all schools, some parks and roads are named after him.

To whom posted <<1:43 PM, so what is the difference with Hun Sen? >>

It is quite correct opinion. Actually, I posted the article. No perfect leader, we should choose the good among bad, rather than the worst one. Intellitual solution still is the hope to save the nation. YOu will see what change in southeast asia, Myanmar will reform and ASEAN will integrated in 2015 (partial), then Cambodia can not do like today. The young generation will replace the current monkey leaders. Then we will have a chance to challenge. But what we have to prepare now, is to build and maintain the basis of one institution, I mean the party, waitint for the chance comes.I don`t recommend but if some one wants to choose the radical, extreme action is not difficult, in case you are ready to sacrify. Just one person can defeat the dictator with bad health, diabetes. No need bomb, gun or heavy weapons. What u need is one needle. Just sake hand and prick with deadly poison applied on th e needle. But the democratically selection is the best.

Yes Hun Sen use his power to his advantage. The problem with the intellectual is they are not willing. Not brave enough. Do you know that the most out spoken opposition carries two citizenships? Everytime he feel his life is threatened he fly away? Hun Sen allow him to fly away instead of stopping him at the airport gate. You can beat any dictatorship if you have the movement and most importantly, the will of the people! Just look at the middle east.....and if your smart enough you shouldn't open your mouth criticizing every nations. Without other nations supporting Hun Sen he would not survive either. So the only choice we have is to have mass protest and challenge the authority in every majors cities especially tourism area. Hit em's where it hurt, economy! Sometimes you just have to use force to fight back. But understand that it was your last choice for the sake of our nation not your first choice to use it. When you have that then we all can win.

KR love their motherland more than any Regimes that controlled Cambidia, I agreed. But they are brainless piece of shit. No brain what so ever. How can make Cambodia stronger to regain lost provinces to Viets and Siam when you killed the only peoples who could help you. I am talking about Khmer Republic has more educate peoples than now. They killed the brightest.

Don't tell me KR trying to kill Viet Agents. Bull craps.
Fucking you KR

Anonymous said...

Ask any Khmer who has loved ones who werer victims of KR to see if he or she think KR is patriotic, perhaps too patriotic that they went ahead and tortured and killed those they didn't considered to be as patriotic as them??? How many fucking killing field does it take for Khmers to satistiy those who think KR were patriotic

Anonymous said...

Exactly!!. If we all hate KR for what his regime did to our nation. why are we still allowing the KR regime to suffocate our nation. Isnt Hun Sen, Chea Sim, Heng Samrin, Hor Nam Hong, the very people who were in power during the KR Regime?? These murderers are just as bad if not worser then the scapegoats sitting in the cage!

Intellects or not, the truth is out there, yet we still blame each other for our differences and not the murderers in power.
