Hope for the best and prepare for the worst

By Kouprey

Re: The senate election: A win-win for everyone

A nation-wide TV network that is neutral and independent would help to make an election fair; one owned and controlled by the Opposition might help even more.

I doubt the CPP will ever honour the electorate's verdict, however. If the verdict is to its favour, it will use it as a mandate to steamroll the Opposition; but if it is not, it will use violence to steamroll the Opposition all the same, just as it had done post-1993.

Even if an independent, nationalist government were to be formed tomorrow, chances are Hanoi will find ways to destabilise it, just as it had done in the past.

Hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

How do we prepare for the worst? Can we get the US, China, or UN involve? Or is the US and the UN also working with the current government CPP and Hanoi?

Let me tell Khmer straightly, there are more than a million Viets living in the US.They knew how to make US liken them as they had pleased the Franc in the past. But for the Khmer, they think about Nirvana, built pagoda and fought each other.Americans allow freedom of religion but will they help catholic Viets or Buddhist Khmer?,go figure it out yourself.

The best crops of Khmers were forced to be living as or became Thais centuries ago.
Who are Khmers now: few of original Khmers, the rest are Stiengs, Kuoys, Pears, Phnongs,Rodaes, Sa-ochs etc...Were/are they known/know how to live and love each other? You tell me. At the lowest period of post Longvek, there were lesser than a million people lived in Khmer Kandal. One third of them have theirs own slaves! Are they know how to cooperate nowadays? 355 were death in the bridge stampede,Borey Keyla will go on! Khmers, if you do not change your attitude, your future is doom. You almost can see it with your own 2 eyes and very pitiful for the guy who has only one.

Hurtful but with care.

It is very hard to imagine a free and fair election in the foreseeable future as long as the hardline communist CPP is still in power. These power-hungry people will do whatever it can to stay in power, including cheating the election, intimidation, threats and even killings its opponents and critics.
