(Thai sources)-Navy chief Surasak Runroengrom has put [Thai] marines on full alert along the Thai-Cambodian border following last week's shooting of an unarmed Thai helicopter at the Trat border by Cambodian troops,Thai newspaper said.

Adm Surasak said yesterday he has ordered commanders of naval units in Trat to place their troops and weapons at the ready to prevent possible border attacks and protect themselves.

His remarks followed last week's shooting of a Thai helicopter in Trat.

The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon. The Thai chopper _ a Bell 212 _ was on a regular flight to deliver provisions to troops stationed in the border areas when it was fired at by Cambodian soldiers. The bullets hit the helicopter's main rotor blades and the pilot was forced to make an emergency landing. There were no injuries.

Both Cambodian and Thai military authorities had met to discuss the incident and the Cambodian 3rd Military Region chief had apologised for the unprovoked attack, Adm Surasak said.

Thai military establishment should have acted more intelligently and more patiently toward Khmer than the Viet did unless they didn't care much for the long term benefit of Thai kingdom.
The tough and rough manner which Thai military forces had acted or displayed toward Cambodia versus the soft and cordial (sincere or not) activities from the Viet made the Khmers opted to be more friendlier toward the Viet in many parts and cases.
But Thais have to remember that the majority of Khmers especially the more intellectual one are pro Thai therefore Thai military and Thai government should not be careless of what they act from now on to avoid hurting the one who look up to them.

Thailand did this on purpose...They meant to cause trouble against cambodian troops at Phnom Ta Min! This is not the first time...Thailand think they can do whatever they want, because their country rich with lots of military planes, navy ships...Showing off!!
