Cambodia's total trades increase 41 pct to 10.47 bln USD in 11 months

PHNOM PENH, Dec 26, 2011 (Xinhua via COMTEX) -- Cambodia's total trades with foreign countries have increased by 41 percent to 10.47 billion U. S. dollars in the first 11 months this year from 7.42 billion U.S. dollars at the same period last year, statistics of the Commerce Ministry showed Monday.

From January to November this year, the country has exported products in the total amount of 4.5 billion U.S. dollars, up 42.8 percent from 3.15 billion U.S. dollars at the same period last year, it said.

The main products Cambodia exported included garment and textile in equivalent to 3.94 billion U.S. dollars, a 40 percent rise; rubber latex of 182 million U.S. dollars, up 146 percent; milled rice of 87 million U.S. dollars, up 200 percent and the rest amount was the products of agriculture, forestry and fisheries.

On the import side, the report said, the country imported goods in the total value of 5.97 billion U.S. dollars, up 40 percent from 4.27 billion U.S. dollars.

The main imported products were garment and textile raw materials of 2.36 billion U.S. dollars, up 9 percent; petroleum of 1.26 billion U.S. dollars, up 90 percent; construction materials of 526 million U.S. dollars, up 114 percent; automobiles and motorcycles of 329 million U.S. dollars, up 30 percent; food and soft drinks of 144 million U.S. dollars, up 7 percent.

In addition, the imports of pharmaceutical products and cosmetics were 125 million U.S. dollars, down 12 percent.

The main trade partners with Cambodia are the United States, European countries, China, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan and Canada.
