(Reuters) - The Khmer Rouge revolution in the 1970s was aimed at freeing Cambodia from colonialism and protecting it from invasion by Vietnam, the party's ideologue, Nuon Chea, told a court on Tuesday, opening his defense against a charge of genocide.

The testimony marked the first time a leader of the Khmer Rouge has defended the motives of the ultra-communist regime since the U.N.-backed court started to try cases last year related to the bloody "Killing Fields" revolution that wiped out a quarter of the population from 1975-1979.

Former President Khieu Samphan, ex-Foreign Minister Ieng Sary and "Brother Number Two" Nuon Chea are charged with crimes against humanity and war crimes as well as genocide.

Can he give more specific description. Telling people that he was the defender of Cambodia land from foreign invaders are grossly represented to all audiences.

1). Tell us what he knew about VN secret plan for Cambodia. by using graph, photos, documents, records, any explicit communication between top Khmer rouge cardes and other foreigners (friends and or foes alike) ect... to prove. Many people and the world knew that USA bombed Cambodia almost to the stome age.

2).Tell us why people have to be evacuated from all main cities in Cambodia. Did he know when he came to Phnom penh and live there for the next three years that it was so quiet no people there..

3). Tell us why monetary and education system was eliminated.

4). Tell us why he didn't know that killing and starvation went on for 3 years plus. where he had been? sleep soundly or drunk, sufferd from amnesia...

5). Did he know Toul Sleng prison exist in the middle of Phnom Penh?

6). Did he know that Khmer rouge soldiers crossed the Cambodia/VN border to attack VN villages. If he said yes then he should know the rest...
7) Last but not least. Had he been outside Phnom penh at all during the last 3 years? If YES, he must have committed very serious crimes.

This was just a lame excuse. All Communist wannables do this to their people. They all followed China Mao Zedong's cultural revolution. It's all part of the Marxist ideology of the peasants revolt. Same thing happened in Vietnam. Unfortunately for Cambodia, the population was not much, so they ended up killing a 1/3 of the polulation.
