A press release from the Free Trade Union (FTU) said that the Governor of Kampong Chhnang province had ordered his subordinates to arrest Chea Mony, President of the FTU, if he appears at the rally at MV Manufacturing Co., Ltd factory site.
The press release claimed that striking workers and union officials overheard the provincial governor ordering his subordinates that if they see Chea Mony show up at the rally site, just arrest him on the spot and handcuff him.
Employees at MV Manufacturing Co., Ltd had engaged in a pay dispute with the company management for many days and currently 4,000 workers are on strike.
FTU representative had earlier released another press release claiming that MV management had impounded motorbikes and bikes belonging to striking workers.
