The government has revealed that it has requested the king to sack another Chea Sim's advisor.
Dr. Sorn Pheakdey, advisor to Senate President Chea Sim, who is also the president of the ruling Cambodian People's Party, has been sacked in a royal decree since 24th September 2011, but the government has just decided to release the royal decree today.
In fact, Dr. Sorn Pheakdey was sacked before 5 other Chea Sim's advisors, including Mrs. Pheng Kunthea Pheakdey, were arrested from 23-28th September from fraud, but it is unknown why his sacking was kept in secret for nearly two weeks.
Currently, he has been in hiding to avoid arrest. It has been reported that he has been involved in a series of fraud involving his labour recruitment firm where he took thousands of dollars in fees from unsuspecting clients who want to work in South Korea, but failed to send them to work there. He has also been accused of providing fake qualifications to tertiary students through his subordinates who work in the Ministry of Education.
