Seng Theary, you think you know it all. What have you done since you return to Cambodia beside trying to build your own fame? Did you ever date a Cambodian guy? May be he is not good enough for you. I know your type who thinks that poor Cambodian and local education doesn't measure to your law degree in the USA.
You know where foriegn aid spent; it is on NGO staff who making a living on poor Cambodia story. This is the reality. You can tell them to stop dinning at high price dinner, ipod, cell phone, villas, night parties etc. Look at Theary Seng, do you think she works for free? foriegn aid benefit her career and building her fame. Just exam the budget in each of those organizations. How much grant or assistant build into the budget to assist the constituents? I dont understand why they are talking mismanagement and corruption. foriegn aid flown into the government and NGO, then NGO setup program and budget. many of the budget is for staff, supplies, operating expenses and the last line items is grant for Cambodia citizens to help move the program foward or attract Cambodian participation. Theary Seng is full of ....; I run non profit over 20 years so I know budgeting ins and outs. You should blame NGO for worthless programs design and top heavy budgeting. The government spent some money for staffing and then distributed to NGO and local agencies and then the NGO and local agencies spent on staffing and operations expenses then Cambodian get the left over which usually pennies. The guy talk about Cambodia found oil, gas and gold; the government should use the monies to invest and interests earned should put into investing on Cambodian poor and uplift Cambodian from poverty.
Cambodia will never develop or ever be a popular tourist destination until there is a Miss.Cambodia in Miss.Universe! If not then Cambodia is never going to rebuild itself.
I support your idea of Miss Universe. I think there are many beautiful Cambodian can win the peagant. I think you are right if we want the world to know Cambodia, we should participate. It is such simple thing but it serve wider purpose.

Your families deserved to be forced evicted and lived in the street, then you can taste the bitter justice of Hun Sen laws. I agree with you warrior blood that Miss.Universe will serve a higher purpose. There is so many people out there that still doesn't even know what Cambodia is. When I saw Miss.Universe I saw many countries I never even heard of and still today I still know who the countries are. I still don't know what Cambodia is and many others feel the same way. The world and our neighbors will always see Khmer has dark skinned and ugly with no culture whatsoever and nobody will care if we as a country go extinct. Yes Cambodia will have a Miss.Cambodia someday so I'll get the last laugh! Countries who compete boost up their countries tourism by a lot. Sometimes I hate being Khmer when we avoid such events like Miss.Universe and opportunity for the world to see our beauty and culture.
