Two mothers whose maids are working in Malaysia have asked members of parliament from the opposition Sam Rainsy Party to help intervene to get their daughters returned to Cambodia, who have been sheltered in a temporary shelter in Malaysia awaiting repatriation after claiming of abuses from their Malaysian employers.

During a joint press conference with MPs from the Sam rainsy Party Mu Sochua and Long Ry, the mothers of the two maids claimed their daughters have been abused by their Malaysian employers who had never paid them for their works.

The maids also claimed that they were recruited by a labour agency which they can't remember the name. Once they got to Malaysia, the labour firm confiscated their passports. They said that the labour firms had moved them to different employers several times after they reported of abuses.

They said at one point, their employers stripped them to only underwears and chased them out of their homes into the streets. They said they had no food to eat for 10 days and were saved by an NGO called Tenaganita.

In the past few years, many Cambodian maids had been rescued from their abusive Malaysian employers, often with claims of physical beatings, rapes, freedom and food deprivation and without pay.

I’m giving two thumbs up for Rep. Mu Sochua. Now, she is doing a great job for the nation. This is how she knows best by keeping focus on a specific problem.

What is the problem with Malaysian Government?
I hope that civilized country like Malaysia does not put an blind eyes on all immigrant/foreign workers's issues.

If Cambodia competed in Miss.Universe and allowed opportunities for Khmer girls to compete then there won't be any Khmer's going to Malaysia to work as maids and then be abused. This won't stop happening unless a Miss.Cambodia contest is held.
