Two of Prime Minister Hun Sen's sons have been provided with the American tax-payers' funded scholarships to study at two prestigious American military academies, costing American tax-payers to the tune of $420,000.

Mr. Hun Sen's eldest son, Hun Manet, had graduated from the prestigious West Point Military Academy in 1999 at a cost of $245,000 to the American tax-payers. His younger brother, Hun Many, is now graduating from American University of National Defense at the cost of $175,000 to the American tax-payers.

Mr. Hun sen, speaking during a graduation ceremony to students at Asia-Europe University in Phnom Penh, thanked the U.S government for its generosity toward his children with this free education.

It is encouraging to know where PM Hun Sen stands on the future of Cambodia. Your actions is crystal clear where Cambodia is heading. You have made the right choice. However, you also knew that when you walked into the tiger cage, it is hard to get out. I truely understand the difficult situation you got yourself involved. I respect and admire your sacrafice. Khmer will understand when they read the future history.

Those figure are not entire correct like every Cambodian originate I have relatives from New Zealand,US,Canada,France, Australia .

Again depend on the subject you take, Diploma take 2 years , bachelor3 years or more the school fee for foreign student some where from 10 to 30 K a years again depend on the subject medical is the most expensive one, I have 2 nieces study medical in America , New zealand is the cheapest one because of the exchange rate ( any mechanical student cost around $16,000 a ann ).

Unless his children go to school by limousine with the bodyguard it no such thing is the prestigious school in the civilize world if you want to study at good school for engineering may be MIT is the best choice .

I am an American tax-payer and I'm not happy that the American government is providing free scholarships to the sons of this corrupt billionaire-dictator. This amount of money could have educated 10 poor Khmer kids in an American university. Hun Sen has stolen billion of dollars from the Cambodian nation and now the American government is paying his children nearly half a million dollars to study in America. The American government should ask Hun Sen to pay back this money and use this money to provide 10 scholarships to 10 poor Cambodian children instead.

American does not care who ever serve American interest American will support. American talk about democracy for those who do not serve American interest. American talk about corruption in Cambodia but American bribe corrupt leader in the hope that corruptor's son will pro American.

The admission of Mr. Hun Many does not come as a surprise (at least to some).

We made our determination and decision to accept the son (Hun Many) of the prime minister based on diplomatic criteria (and quota) to have Mr. Hun Many to enroll in the Defense Academy institution in an effort to sustain the political equilibrium in the region.

Plus, we do not want Cambodia to descend into another tumultuous era, which essentially means we (US) will save millions (if not billions) of dollars to stabilize the region.

Khmerization titled this article to create negative response from the American public and increases polularity for Sam Rainsy. It also aimed to dig dirt on PM Hun Sen and his families. Whatever the motive; it is very hind sight lack of long term effect. Do you really think it is easy to reform PM Hun Sen? You knew the answer already so I dont need to tell you. US thought processes is long term investment in Cambodia. In order for Cambodia to emerge out of the communist ideology, it leaders must be trained by democracy country. Do you know that more and more Cambodian children were given scholarship to study in America? Do you really wanted to rock this boat? Do you think American public has the apetite for Cambodian children to study in America for free? You know the answer already. Do you want to risk all of that? Do you prefer PM Hun Sen send his sons to China or Vietnam to study Communist ideology? You know that they are Cambodia's future leader right? I urge Khmer community to think long term. You can do your campaign but on some subject, you could damage Cambodian more than you are helping them. I asked that opposition put Cambodia first before its political agenda.

I like the title and I think Khmerization has gotten readers interested in the article through attention-grabbing title like this one.
Khmer Blood, who is an ardent supporter of Hun Sen, seems to miss the point here. He seems to think that only Hun Sen's kids will be the future leaders of Cambodia. This is an insult to all Khmer children. Instead of giving free scholarships to the children of this kleptocrat and dictator, the American government should give them to poor Khmer children, so they can compete equally to become the next generation of Khmer leaders. Hun Sen, through his corrupt stealing of the nation's money, can afford to send his children to study anywhere he wants. If you think that the U.S is trying to reform Hun Sen by educating his children for free, I don't think I can agree with that because it is Hun Sen's children who attend the American universities, not Hun Sen himself. If America is trying to reform Hun Sen by providing free education to his children, then I think they are wrong because this kind of favoritism will give Hun Sen's children an advantage edge over poor Khmer kids in advancing their leadership.
The way Khmer Blood says it makes me think that he believes in a political dynasty because by giving Hun Sen's children this education he seems to think that America is trying to build up a Hun Sen political dynasty. Children of corrupt dictators do not deserve to get a free education, especially paid for by American tax-payers. This sort of costly scholarships should be given to poor Khmer kids instead.
