Convert "dirty debt" to assistance fund for deportees

Warrior Blood said...

Dear US government:

There are over 2000 deportees in the waiting lists in the U.S ready to be deported back to Cambodia. I brought this subject up because I would like to see this debt used to help deportees to assimilate into Cambodian society. Many of the deportees who are already in Cambodia found themselves struggling to find jobs and assimilate themselves into Cambodian society because they left home since the were babies. Some were born along the refugee camp in Thailand which made them stateless persons because Thailand doesn't recognize them either. Many deportees either became homeless or went back to street life which create chaos in Cambodian society.

These deportees are American kids technically because they can't even speak Khmer or understand the Khmer culture. All they knew was American life style. How will they survive in the Cambodian jobless market? Many deportees were mentally ill and some have committed suicide because they cannot cope with the living conditions in Cambodia.

I strong urge US government to use this debts to help deportees reform themselves and assist them to gain employment, job training programs, housing assistance etc. Many deportees have been reformed, they made mistake 20 years ago and they paid for their time for the crimes, yet the US policies continue to punish them.

When Cambodian refugees arrived in America, they were placed precisely in the "ghetto" neighborhood and many of young Cambodians were left to fence for themselves against hardcore American gangsters. They learned the street culture and do whatever to survive. Cambodian government signed MOU with the US to take these children back is punishing them rather than helping them. They have kids and families here in the United States. Many children are being separated from their parents forever for the past crimes which they served time already. The debts should be used as humanitarian assistance to help these deportees.

The deportees should not commit crimes when they resided in U.S. It is their faults. People do make mistakes but you have to make the best of your situation. Well anyway, Cambodia is not a bad place to live. I have been there multiple times.

For the commenter, do you think others doesnt committed crime? Do you think American doesnt committed crime? The jail is overcrowded. Why targeted Cambodian? They were here since babies and they were here (America) because of the war. They served time already, why punished them again. Technically they served double times.

Warrior Blood,

Don't fight this kind of case in this forum since not many or any Americans come here to read the news so your fight is going nowhere.

You live in America and you seem very passionate about this case so you should organize a fight in the US where you live. Start first convincing Cambodian people there to help you put pressure on the American government.

Try and see how many Cambodians support your idea first and if you can't get more than 50% of them to support your idea among the Khmer communities in the US, then you should know what to do next.

Your assessment is corrected but not completely true that American doesnt come to this forum. They know everything that this forum is doing. Cambodia government read this news too so they should help pressure this issue to move foward. Cambodia government can stop taking deportees if they can't get no assistant to help them. They can revoke the MOU. To change legislation in America is enormouse tasks, it is immigration law we are talking about here. I agree with fighting in US to gain support from US congress of using the debt to help deportees but Khmer government can do their part too you have to find compeling reason why America should support deportees. Why sign MOU if there is no support to rehab these people. Cambodia is not a dumping ground. Dont you think Cambodia has enough crime? What happen if these individuals cannot find work and have no other choice?

To get U.S. citizenship is a privileged, not a right. So everybody has to follow the laws including me .The crimes that these deportees committed was defined by the U.S. Congress. Therefore they need to be deported.
