The ILO-Better Factories Cambodia Social Protection and Gender project and the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (MoLVT) have agreed to collaborate in supporting the MoLVT provincial departments to better implement national legislation on HIV/AIDS prevention at the workplace.
The initiative, which will last until August this year, aims to build the Department of Labour and Vocational Training officials’ capacities to better monitor and evaluate workplace activities for HIV/AIDS prevention. The Ministerial AIDS Committee together with the Tripartite Coordination Committee’s Secretariat and with technical support from the ILO HIV/AIDS project will provide specialized training to the MoLVT staff from 6 provinces, namely, Kampong Thom, Kampong Cham, Kampong Chhnang, Kampong Speu, Takeo and Battambang. Information and Education materials will also be designed and produced to support awareness raising efforts of national legislation regarding HIV/AIDS prevention (Prakas #86 on the creation of the HIV/AIDS Committee in enterprises and establishments and managing HIV/AIDs in the workplace).
The partnership between the ILO BFC Social Protection and Gender project and the MoLVT on HIV/AIDs prevention at workplace was initiated in 2010. Joint efforts have been successful in improving the Ministry’s reporting capacity and in giving visibility to government efforts. Last year, ILO supported the organizationof an awards ceremony to acknowledge more than 150 enterprises for their good practices in carrying out HIV and AIDS response measures in the workplace
