Cambodia on Monday launched a legal battle before the UN's highest court, asking it to order an immediate Thai troop withdrawal from an area around the ancient temple of Preah Vihear.

THE HAGUE - CAMBOIDA on Monday launched a legal battle before the UN's highest court, asking it to order an immediate Thai troop withdrawal from an area around the ancient temple of Preah Vihear, scene of heavy clashes earlier this year.

'We will ask the court to swiftly provide the provisional measures to protect the peace and avoid an escalation of the armed conflict in the area,' said Cambodia's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Nor Namhong, who represents Cambodia at the court.

'Thailand is under obligation to withdraw any troops in the area around the temple,' he told a panel of 16 judges at the Hague-based International Court of Justice (ICJ). He insisted that Thailand must 'respect the sovereignty and territory of Cambodia.'

The 11th-century temple complex has been at the centre of a legal wrangle between Thailand and Cambodia - it was taken to the ICJ in 1958, said court documents.

The UN court ruled in 1962 the 800-year-old Khmer temple belonged to Cambodia, but both Phnom Penh and Bangkok claim ownership of the 4.6 square kilometre surrounding area.

Cambodia last month asked the ICJ to explain that ruling, with the ICJ saying it would rule on a clarification at a later stage. -- AFP

Can you share your wife 50/50. Can Thai fuck their mother if not Cambodia can not share.

Share? How about divide up Thailand into 2 territories, half give to Cambodia, other half Thailand can keep. Fair enough? That's 50/50 right? The f!@king Siem never want Cambodia to have anything. If it could, it will try to stall and prolong the issue to make it very hard for Cambodia. I hate those f!@king Siem animals.

Cambodia should get Surin/Buriram/Trat/Chantaburei back from Thailand!

The thai suggestion of sharing Cambodian territory with Thailand is ridiculous. Thailand invaded Cambodian territory and ask us to share our land with them. How about sharing some of Thailand's territory, such as Surin, Sisaket, Korat, Buriram provinces etc, which were former Cambodian territories annexed by Thailand, with Cambodia? Cambodia would be happy to share Thai territory with us.

Invading other countries, annexing other nation's lands. Go back to read history dude, we all have done that. When Khmer empire was strong it invaded and controlled many countries in South East Asia including Thailand or Siam at that time. If you want to make argument based on this fact, then I should ask how far you want to get back in time, 200-300 years that Siam invaded and controlled your territory, 800 years ago when you invaded us or more than 1000 years ago when there was another empire controlling this area. Or may be another 1 million years ago when our common ancestor half ape half human, migrating out of Africa?

Dude, if you want to argue, argue based on fact that in 1904 Siam signed a treaty with France to use watershed as border line. France tricked Siam by including map that did not complied with the treaty. This is the start of the story. Then ICJ awarded you the temple based on French's trick.

Btw, bloodlines of people in this region are mixed, even our King has Khmer blood and your king has Siam blood. One more thing, the boundary is just to determine the nation but not people, we are all brothers dude, when Siam was strong, we took many prisoners of war from Khmer and where are they now? They were ancestors of many families around Thailand. This is the same on your side as well.

Go back and read history carefully, we have too many things in common. What you believe from your government propaganda is bullshit. You would better off trying to get rid of very corrupted Hun Sen regime. What kind of democratic country that PM can appoint his son to deputy army chief. How can you let this family control you and your nation and degrade your people livelihood.

Love peace, hate people that use history for their own benefits.
