The Apsara were dancing goddesses, celestial figures, famous for their beauty, and once at the heart of Cambodian culture.
Now the traditional dance is experiencing a boom after nearly dying out during the repression of the Khmer Rouge.
The Khmer Rouge regime – in power between 1974-1979 - killed 90 percent of the country’s artists of the time. Now, tourists are returning in their droves to experience Cambodian culture in all its forms.
Surviving dancers are doing everything possible to ensure it properly represents the beauty of Cambodia.
The renewed tourist interest is proof that the Apsara still captures the curiosity of visitors who are eager to decipher the messages and symbols it contains.
The dance originated in the temples of Angkor at the turn of century. Now those temples are once again full of Apsaras, embodying and reliving the spirit of generations of dancers.

Pol Pot and his friends such as Khieu Samphan and Ieng Sary are really so stupid that they destroyed even their own Cambodian culture during the time of their rediculously absurd revolution.
How can they be so ignorant and stupid after having gone to school for some time, especially Ieng Sary and Khieu Samphan?
If they had been to ask those beautiful and talented Apsara dancers of Sihanouk era to dance in front of the great temple of Angkor and let tourists come in to visit Cambodia and see the Apsara dancers performing their beautiful and sexy dances, they would have got a lot of money that they could use to buy rice from Thailand and Vietnam. Now that would be much smarter and nicer than killing your country beautiful dancers and people.

This is where I find it very unbelievable and very mysterious. It's one of those thing where I think I know who was behind it all but can't seem to pin point who. There has to be some little devil that give ideas to these group of young Khmer students about creating a commununist utopia throught destroying everything that stand for Khmer. To this day, I sometime refuse to except the fact that it was all Pol Pot. It appeared that he was scapegoated. How can Salath Sar(Pol Pot), Khiev Samphon, Ieng Sary, and a few more founders of the Khmer Rouge organization thought of such diabolical plans to annihilate there own existence. The Khmer Rouge communist idealogy did not come up by one man, Pol Pot. This is a multiple ideas that put together. Who were their associates during their study abroad in Paris. It was almost that they were brainwashed in one form or the other to create ways to bring death and destruction on Cambodia. I think this is the greatest mystery in Cambodia rescent history.

Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels claimed to have produced pill (Communist pill) to cure inequality which is the source of injustice and all evil things according to these two men. Khmer student group who went to study in France brought those pills and administered them later to Khmer nation. Unlike pharmaceutical pill which has exact formula and dosage,communist ideology is open source and everybody can add or omit things according to their wild imagination. Side effects of those pills are disastrous and took million Khmer lives. We can not blame Pol Pot alone for the Khmer tragedy but to the whole bunch of amateurs who willing to try new substance themselves then forced it on to theirs own people. However as a supreme leader Pol Pol must unceremoniously accept the responsibility for himself and for his associates.It is easy to accept the law of human evolution and as a foot note Jewish people has caused greatest changes in human life history by such persons as Descarts,Einstein and Karl Marx in both positive and negative way.

No one should blame Jesus Christ.In fact I should have put Jesus name before Descartes,Einstein and Karl Marx but that would stir more misunderstanding. I am not antisemitic and I'm fully praised Jewish students of Ohio Kent State university who died in the protest against Nixon policy toward Cambodia.We should not turn a meaningful discussion into a reckless one by too much emotion.
