Notes from the Vihara [The Teaching of the Budhha]

Hey, Everybody!

In most Dhamma traditions, there is a principle stating that Reality (with the capital R), and all things which compose it, have three overarching characteristics: 1) no permanent, unchanging, ever-abiding, essence (anata); transitoriness (anicca) and unsatisfactoriness (dukkhā). Dukkhā results in part from clinging (upādāna) to things which are in constant flux.

Some of us are clinging to "standard" time, and somebody or something when and changed time - without asking, I might point out - to "daylight savings" time. Dukkhā! Dukkhā! Dukkhā!

That said, we still managed to meet for meditation this evening.

We also voted to change the time from 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. for the evening meditation at 123 S. Center Street, in Sioux City, Iowa, USA. . So, on Thursdays and Sundays come sit with us at six!

There is a new post on the AMBMS.blogspot.com today. Feel free to comment.

Mettā, Karunā, Muditā, Upekkhā

Life is a struggle. Especially when they change the time on us. Suffering is still optional.

what would you get if you add one million of number zero together. Will you get zero or one million zeros?
Is it real or true that one zero and one million zeros are the same? And what is the same means?
