The visiting Laotian prime minister has told Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen that Cambodia is a victim of Thailand's internal politics which caused the invasion of Preah Vihear temple surroundings and the armed clashes around the areas.
Mr. Thongsing Thammovong, who is on a 2-day official visit to Cambodia, said the Khmer-Thai conflict was not a co-incidence, but was a carefully planned actions devised by Thai leaders to invade Cambodia.
Prime Minister Hun Sen told the Laotian prime minister that Cambodia does not want war with Thailand, but Cambodia has the duty to defend Cambodian sovereignty and territorial integrity. He told the Laotian prime minister that Cambodia had conducted bilateral talks with Thailand for many years (2 and a half years), but all bilateral talks failed to achieve any results due to the insincerity of Thailand who failed to approve and ratify all agreements reached during the meetings in the past three years. He said, as the last resort, Cambodia must drag Thailand to the UN Security Council and then to Asean.
The Laotian prime minister said Laos is following the Khmer-Thai conflict very closely, saying that Cambodia is a victim of Thai internal politics. He praised Cambodia for choosing international diplomatic and legal solution and said that Laos will do all it can to help in making the situations at the Khmer-Thai borders return to normalcy.

Laos is a good friend of Cambodia for many centuries. Both of these two nations are the victims of Thailand and Vietnam expansion. Cambodia and Laos should stand together for the common cause. That cause is to help each other when in time of needs. If Cambodia and Laos promise to back each other up when either one is facing problem, this will make Thailand and Vietnam think twice about picking on one of the partner.
I hope that is the case but not back stabbing one another. The combined population between Lao & Khmer are still less than VN or TH. However, fighting from two fronts can overcome many obstacles.
It is just politics and diplomacy. Laos will never come to Cambodia's aid when full scale war broke with Thailand. Cambodia's and Laos' population combined is still less than Thai population and even worse, these two countries' army are poorly equipped and poorly armed. No air force and artillery and tanks are outdated and small in numbers comparing to Thai armoury.
9:17pm, you're talking to much shit about Thailand. If Thailand is so great, why hasn't it taken over Preah Vihear in the 3 days clash with Cambodia already? Thailand though it could easily march into Cambodia and take what it pleases. You know the number of deaths and casualties on Thailand side. Obviously, Thailand is not as tough as it though when dealing with small Cambodia. When working together, anything is possible. Cambodia and Laos can be a strong wall to defend invaders from the east or the west. Cambodia is becoming stronger every. Laos can benefit from Cambodia through increase of trades. Together they can be stronger than they today, strong enough to remind the invaders for thinking twice about attacking these two friends.
Thailand has too many people who want peace..instead?, not too many warriors..? Thailand depending on modern weapons today, mostly! Thailand will not match with Cambodian on ground offensive...Cambodia is lack of modern weapons, if Cambodia has modern weapons like Thailand...forget it! Thailand has no Match!
(Laos) Cannot let the Brother(Khmer) Fight Alone Against Thai,We Must Fight Them Together.Brothas Lets Fight Them Together and If Thai Invades Khmer,That Means They might Invade Laos.Laos and Khmer Must Fight Against Thai as One and Even Doe we are outnumbered.We Must help each Brotha Out.
