Cambodia's Oddar Meanchey provincial officials have warned the Thai side that Cambodia will ban imports of Thai primary produce to Cambodia through Choam Sra-Ngam Border Crossing after Thai officials have banned to imports of Cambodian produce into Thailand.
Mr. Vath Paranin, Oddar Meanchey's Chief of Administration, told RFA on 26th March that on 25th March, Thai authority has banned all imports of Cambodian produce, including lime, lemon coconuts etc. into Thailand.
He said the reason Thai authority banned Khmer produce was because they are of higher quality and cheaper than Thai produce. He said Khmer lime and lemon have better taste and are sold for only 1.50 Baht each, while Thai lime and lemon are sold for 4 Baht (10 cents) each.
