Thailand reinforced troops and amours to Ta Thav and Choam Sra-Ngam

Cambodian military source has told Kampuchea Thmey that the Thai army has moved tanks and armoured personnel carriers to Ta Thav Pass. He also said that Thai tanks and armours had also been moved to the nearby Choam Sra-Ngam Pass in Anlong veng of Oddar Meanchey province.

Ta Thav Pass is located about 5 kilometres east of Preah Vihear temple and the area is flat which enable tanks and armoured personnel carriers to move easily. A Cambodian commander said Thai troops did not withdraw as reported by the media and instead had had been reinforced. However, he said Cambodian troops are determined to protect Cambodian territorial integrity and sovereignty.

The source said that the Thai Army had also reinforced their troops to the nearby Ansess Point, Choam Te and Mom Bei (The Triangle) which located east of Preah Vihear temple on Monday night the 31st January. He said, however, that the Thai Army did not deploy many tanks and armours in Phnom Trop, Veal Entry, Sombok Khmum and O'Chak Chreng near Preah Vihear temple because the areas have rugged terrains, mountainous and thick forests that do not allow the tanks and amoured personnel carriers to move easily.

At Choam Sra-Ngam Pass in Anlong Veng district in Oddar Meanchey province, the Thai Army had also reinforced their troop numbers as there are reports that the situations in the areas as of Monday night are very tense.
