Cambodia won't change position despite Thai opposition

The spokesman for the Cambodian Foreign Ministry said Cambodia will maintain its position of putting forward its 4-point proposal to the Asean Foreign Ministers Meeting especially convened to discuss the recent Cambodian-Thai armed clashes from 4-7th February, despite an opposition from Thailand.

The 4-point proposal was put forward by Prime Minister Hun Sen during a press conference yesterday to obtain a permanent ceasefire between Cambodian and Thai troops. In yesterday's press conference, Prime Minister Hun Sen proposed that both sides should not move armed forces until the resolution on demarcation of the disputed border area, to have open talks between two countries' army commanders, to ask representatives from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to observe the disputed area as to ensure the permanent ceasefire.

Thailand rejected the proposal, saying it was Cambodia who shoot first and claimed a victim status. Cambodia, on the other hand, has accused Thailand as the aggressor.

Mr. Koy Kuong (pictured), the Cambodian Foreign Ministry's spokesman, said if Thailand thinks that Cambodia was the instigator and it is the victim of Cambodia's attack, then it should not be afraid of the presence of foreign observers. The fact that it refused to accept observers from the Asean countries have revealed Thailand's true hypocrisy.

At the same time, Kampuchea Thmey reported that French and Dutch heritage officials have visited Preah Vihear temple to inspect the damages caused by Thai artillery shells and cluster bombs fired during the armed clashes with Cambodian troops from 4-7 February. Unesco has so far rejected Cambodia's request to send its officials to inspect the damages, saying visit could not occur until hostilities have ceased. “And obviously no mission could take place to the site until hostility has ceased between the two parties”, said Unesco's spokesman Sue Williams.

Abi-shit keeps saying they are not going to agree or committ to the 4-points proposed by Hun Sen because they didnt instigate the clash. Ok then, you shouldn't have any problems of having an un-biased observer. Think about for a minute. If Cambodian soldiers always start the fight 1st, then why do we request an observer? They annoyed so much that I want to annilate their god forsaken country.
