Phnom Penh Authority will begin the construction of an $8.7 million second sky bridge (pictured) on 29th December on the intersenction of Russian Boulevard, Street No. 271 and Street No. 598.
The Sky Bridge will be built by OCIC, the owner and builder of Pich Bridge which was the scene of the stampede which killed 353 people and wounded 490 other during a Water Festival on 22nd November, 2010. The bridge will be 345 metres long, 15.2 metres wide and 5.5 metres high above ground.
The construction of the bridge is expected to be completed in 15 months and will be ready for use before Cambodia host the Asean Summit in 2012.
This is Phnom Penh's second sky bridge. The first Sky Bridge was inaugurated for use in June.
