The Ministry of Interior has recognised the revamped Norodom Ranariddh Party after the party held a special congress on 11th December to change the party name from the Nationalist Party to the Norodom Ranariddh Party.
In a letter to Prince Norodom Ranariddh, president of the Norodom Ranariddh Party, Interior Minister Sar Kheng wrote that "according to Article 26, Chapter of the Political Party Act", the Interior Ministry has recognised all decisions of the NRP's congress.
Prince Ranariddh has officially re-entered politics at a special party congress on 11th December after two years of absence. His decision to return to politics has angered Prime Minister Hun Sen who had threatened to sack him as the king's advisor.
