Two U.S warships docked at Sihanoukville port

Two U.S warships, the USS Crommelin (FFG-37) (pictured) and the USS Safeguard (ARS-50), have arrived in Sihanoukville Seaport to participate in a joint military exercise with the Cambodian navy as well as conducting exercises in humanitarian operations and environmental clean up.

A Cambodian naval officer based at Ream Naval Base off the Sihanoukville coast who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the USS Crommelin (FFG-37) had docked at Sihanoukville Seaport at 8.50 a.m on Monday 25th October with 48 sailors and 200 military personnel who will take part in the exercises. The USS Safeguard (ARS-50), which is a salvage ship, will dock at Sihanoukville Seaport today 26th October.

The anonymous naval officer said the two U.S warships will conduct a joint exercise with the Cambodian navy on humanitarian operations such as providing medical cares to poor Cambodian in the rural areas, carry out renovations on rundown health centres as well as carrying out sanitary works on rural health clinics. The two ships will docked at Sihanoukville Seaport for 6 days and will depart on 31st October.
