About 100 people from 4 villages in Kampong Chhnang province vomitted and got diarrhoea after eating Num Banhchok, a Cambodian vermicelli, at a 7th day anniversary ceremony of the death a local villager at Tram Mor village in Taing Krosaing commune of Kampong Chhnang province at 6 p.m on Monday night.

Villagers said that the vermicelli was bought from Romeas (Rhino) Market in Kbal Domrey (elephant's head) village of Teuk Phoss (Spring Waters) district in Kampong Chhnang province.

Villagers said the vermicelli looked very green already when they ate it as if it was contaminated with fungus and after they have eaten it they became sick and started to vomit and got a severe diarrhoea. No one had died of this vermicelli poisoning and after being treated in the hospital, all patients have recovered.

Last week, 17 villagers died of drinking home-made alcohol which was mixed with methanol.
