A senior U.S embassy official in Cambodia has called on Cambodia and Thailand to resolve border disputes at Preah Vihear peacefully as tensions heightened after Thailand had reinforced thousands of troops to the areas after Unesco had accepted Cambodia's management plans for Preah Vihear temple, reports Radio Free Asia.
Mr. Theodore Allegra (pictured), the U.S charge d'affaires in Phnom Penh, said in an interview with RFA on Tuesday that the U.S wants both countries to resolve border disputes peacefully rather using force to settle the disputes because it can affect security in the region. "The U.S position on this dispute is very clear, that we continue to insist both Bangkok and Phnom Penh and Washington to seek a bilateral solution on border disputes. The U.S does not believe that there are any benefits for any parties if there are troops reinforcements. We encourage both sides to show restraint not to have troop movements or troop reinforcements", he said.
Mr. Koy Kuong, spokesman for the Cambodian Foreign Ministry, said Cambodia welcomes Mr. Allegra's comments. He said Cambodia had shown the utmost restraint from the beginning when Thai troops invaded the Preah Vihear temple surrounding areas. He said now Thai troops had demanded Cambodian troops move out from the areas near Preah Vihear temple, but Cambodian troops are ready to defend their territory, he said. "If Thailand still attempt to invade Cambodia and push Cambodian troops out of areas inside Cambodian territory, Cambodia will welcome them by using self-defence rights to fight back", he said.

Late last week, Cambodian military sources said Thailand had reinforced 2,000 troops to border areas near Preah Vihear temple after Unesco accepted Cambodia's management plan for Preah Vihear temple in a meeting in the Brazilian city of Brasilia.

So UNESCO has alreay accepted Cambodia's management plan. So Cambodia must continue in earnest to work closely the organization. By the next year meeting, it will be a donedeal. No if's or but's and send the shameful siems back to their shit hole.
It's easy to say than done if ah thai show no sign of willing to talk reasonablly. Ah thai only want more khmer lands.
talk what? by talking with siem about the ownership and management of Preah Vihear temple, it will show a fault pretend that they have rights in this temple. the sole ownership of this Khmer Preah Vihear temple has long been established, Cambodia. so no more talks with these scumbags. yes, we can talk about how much siems have to pay for visa and tickets to see this Khmer temple. even that it is not a good idea for them to get near the temple. they might vandalize and destroy it.
also, the areas surround the Khmer Preah Vihear temple belong to Cambodia.
Unesco accepted the document, but it has not decided to approve the details of the document. However, according to Unesco's rule, it does not need to approve the document, if it accepted the document it means it is likely to approve it, but Cambodia has to wait till next year.
