Thai PM demands Cambodians leave border area

Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said the Cambodians had "trespassed" and must leave the border area

BANGKOK (AFP)— Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva (pictured) on Tuesday demanded Cambodian citizens leave a disputed border area that has been the focus of deadly clashes in recent years.

The two countries have stepped up a war of words over the spat, with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen warning it could lead to fresh bloodshed.

"We have to tell them (Cambodians) to leave," Abhisit told reporters. "They have trespassed so we are trying to evict them.

"The problem happened because Cambodia intruded into Thai territory so we have the right to protect our sovereignty and we will do everything possible through peaceful means."

Hun Sen warned Monday that the border dispute with Thailand was "very hot" and could result in violence.

Cambodia and Thailand have been locked in a troop standoff at their disputed border since July 2008, when the ancient Preah Vihear temple was granted UNESCO World Heritage status.

The World Court ruled in 1962 that the temple belonged to Cambodia, although its main entrance lies in Thailand. The exact boundary through the surrounding grounds remains in dispute, with occasional gunfights claiming several lives.

Before the most recent deadly clash, in April 2009, more than 300 Cambodians were living in a village near Preah Vihear, but they had since moved to a location further away from the temple, according to a Cambodian official.

The Thai-Cambodia border has never been fully demarcated, partly because it is littered with landmines left over from decades of war in Cambodia.

I thought Hun Sen was blind, but Abhisit an English graduate don't know how to read the map and claim ignorant of the World Court results. The truth is that Surin is Khmer land and so as Bangkok, and Cambodia did not ask for the return of the land.

Bangkok is Khmer word means grass lake,a type of grass called Krachoa. We still use this type of grass to make mat.

Khmer ruined-stones and artefacts can be found from all over Thailand, which once used to be Khmer land.

Thai and Viet are on the move and they are planning to break this small land up once again. Viet is now in full control in Cambodia There are at lease 5 millions viet have settle legally in Cambodia.

Tea Banh( Vietnamese) controls Cambodian arm-forces.
Soc Kong ( Vietnamese close friend of Hun Sen)controls most of lifeline economy such as petrol company, tourist industry, Banking, internet ect.

Do you know that, when you go to visit Angkorwat, which once your ancestors built,is now controlled by Vietnamese businessmen called Soc Kong ? Isn't it insulting your ancestors as well as your intelligent?. Do you think you are clever and cool because you have big villas and expensive cars to drive around in your very small and poor country.
My answer is all foreigners think you are all not cool but fool and stupid.
Please wake up and look after your poor brothers and sisters. They need you to guide them out of this suffering. Show all the foreigners that you are not the lost soul ones. Kick ah Hun out. He is a mad dog of Hanoi. The longer he stays in power, the more suffering of your people and your country.
Your country need your heroism. Reach your hand to your people now.
