Mr. Lim Vanna, lawyer for Lady Seng Chanda, or Chantha who was arrested for attempted murder of stepdaughter, said tycoon Khaou Chuly has written letters to the government and the Phnom Penh Court, begging with tears, to let him offer all his assets and his life as bail to allow his wife to stay out of jail while awaiting a court hearing, reports Koh Santepheap.
Lady Seng Chanda was arrested on 7th July after her stepdaughter, Sun Sutha, lodged a complaint against her for attempted murder after her and Mrs. Sun Sutha's domestic workers were arrested for breaking into Mrs. Sun Chantha's house in the middle of the night. They allegedly told police that they were hired by Lady Seng Chanda to break into the house, rape and kill Mrs. Sutha and her children while her husband, Senior Minister Sun Chanthol, was not home.
According to reports, two people broke into Mrs. Sun Sutha's house in the early hour of 12th June. Mrs. Sun Sutha was woken up by the noise, got up and saw two people jumped the fence. She then lodged a report with the police and then 4 domestic workers working for her and for Lady Seng Chanda were arrested.
Sources close to the Khaou family said the family feud resulted from a dispute over wealth and inheritance distribution, if and when the octogenarian Oknha Khaou Chuly died. The report also added that the majority of people do not believe that Lady Seng Chanda had hatched a plot to kill her stepdaughter.
