Mineral ore experts have claimed that they have found large deposits of gold ores in Phnom Anlong (Anlong Mountain) in Preah Vihear province during tests in the area, reports Koh Santepheap.
Phnom Anlong is located in Kro-Nhaing Tontim village in Roumtoum commune of Rovieng district, 17 kilometres west of National Highway Number 62.
According to the reports, geologists said that an area which covers 8 sq. kilometres of Phnom Anlong contains large deposits of pure gold. The report also adds that for centuries, the ethnic tribal Kuoy people and Khmers have made their living from digging for gold from this area. It said that from July to November each year these people started to dig for gold in the area from their home-made tools. The report said they can find up to one Damloeng (a bit more than an ounce) of pure gold per day.
In late May, Australia's Oz Minerals has announced it has discovered 8.1 million tonnes of gold ores in Rattanakiri province which can produce 605,000 ounces of pure gold.

Good news and hope the government will take charge and put all money earning from this gold into the national budget. Or may a powerful general or minister already took control of these gold mines.
