The opposition Sam Rainsy Party (SRP) has again requested the government to suspend border planting with Vietnam in Takeo province amid claims that border demarcations in the province have encroached on Cambodian territories, reports Cambodian Express News.

Villagers from Anh Chanh village in Chok Chey commune of Borei Cholasa district in Takeo province angrily protested against the planting of border post number 270 in their village, claiming that the post has encroached on their farmlands.

In a letter to Prime Minister Hun Sen on 27th May, a group of MPs from the SRP asked Prime Minister Hun Sen to order the suspension of border plantings in the province. They said they have also planned a trip to the province to to examine border post number 270 with their own eyes to see if claims by villagers are valid.

Villagers claimed that the post will encroach on about 2-3 hectares of their farmlands, which they said they have farmed since 1983.

However, Mr. Var Kimhong, chief of Cambodian Border Commission, disputed the villagers' claims and said that the area is a baren grassland with no farmlands. He said the authority has never issued any land titles to the farmers because the area has not been demarcated.

Sad to see Khmer lands being chipped away by our neighbors Thailand and Vietnam. This is because Cambodia is ruled by traitors.
