Three Thai police commissioners from three northeast provinces have been suspended from duties and summoned to Bangkok for failing to stop riots and burnings in their provinces in the aftermath of the deadly crackdown on red protesters two weeks ago, reports everyday.com.

The report said that Thai National Police Commissioner has on Thursday signed orders to suspend the three provincial police commissioners from Kon Kaen, Mukdahan and Uddorn thani provinces and summoned them to take up non-active duties in Bangkok. The three deputy police commissioners of the three provinces have been appointed acting police commissioners in place of the three suspended commissioners.

The suspension of three police chiefs came after three provincial governors of these three provinces and Sisaket province were also suspended for failing to tackle the riots and burnings in their provinces.

At the same time, Koh Santepheap reported that the Montenegro government has reportedly told ex-Thai PM Thaksin Shinawatra not to make any political statements while he is staying in the country after the Thai government issued an international warrant for issue arrest. The Montenegro action was taken after the French government took a similar action earlier while Thaksin was reportedly in Praris with his family.

In an interview with Australia's ABC TV this week, Mr. Thaksin said Interpol has the ability to track him down and extradite him to Thailand, but he believes that Interpol will not arrest him because his case is a political case, not a criminal case as he denied all terrorism charges levelled against him by the Thai government. Thailand's terrorism laws carry a capital punishment and if convicted Mr. Thaksin could face the death sentence.
