Cambodian Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training said up to the 27th of April 2010, the Ministry has sent more than 50,000 Cambodian workers to work in various foreign countries, reports Deum Ampil.
Speaking at an international conference about migrant workers, Mr. Sok Borey, Director of the Labour Department, said the Ministry of Labour has sent 51,647 Cambodian workers to Japan, Thailand, Malaysia and South Korea.
Statistic figures show that the Ministry has sent 97 workers to Japan, 16,197 workers to Thailand, 27,152 workers to Malaysia and 8,201 workers to S. Korea. In Malaysia, around 20,126 Cambodian workers are employed as domestic helpers, while 7,026 workers are employed as labourers in various factories across the countries.
