There are reports that at 12:12 pm today (Monday 8th), Col. Neak Vong, Cambodian commander based at Ta Moan Thom temple, met with a Thai commander and demanded that all Thai troops be completely withdrawn from the temple which is situated under the sovereignty of Cambodia, reports Deum Ampil.
Later in the day, a DAP News reporter who claimed to be reported from the compound of Ta Moan Thom temple, reported all Thai troops had been withdrawn after strong demand from Cambodian commander during the meeting.
The news of Thai troop withdrawal came after Prime Minister Hun Sen reportedly cancelled his visit to the temple today.
Thai soldiers had occupied Ta Moan Thom temple on 8th August 2008, three weeks after its troops invaded the Preah Vihear areas on 15th July, but withdrew a few months later after subsequent negotiations, but two days before Mr. Hun sen was due to visit the temple, a group of Thai troops had been sent to re-occupy the temple again.
