The military situations at Preah Vihear has worsened after Cambodia stopped allowing the 10 Thai soldiers to be stationed at Wat Keo Sekha Kirisvarak pagoda any longer, reports Deum Ampil.
The ten Thai troops had been stationed at the pagoda since 500 Thai troops forcibly occupied the area and the temple on 15th July 2008. Subsequent talks failed to convince the Thai side to withdraw their troops.
However, recently, angered by Thailand's refusal to let him visit Ta Moan Thom temple, a Cambodian temple occupied by Thai troops on 8th August 2008, Mr. Hun Sen had ordered the 10 Thai troops be evicted by force and they will no longer be allowed to stay at the pagoda effective from 9th February 2010.
Cambodian military sources claimed that after the eviction of 10 Thai soldiers from the pagoda, the Thai side had reinforced 7000-8000 troops to the front line areas of Veal Entry, a contentious battle ground 3 kilometres from Preah Vihear temple.
