A Tropeang Prasat district police inspector in Oddar Meanchey province, Mr. Keo Pann, confirmed that one more Cambodian logger had been killed by Thai soldiers on 19th December while logging on the top of Dangrek Mountains, report Radio Free Asia.

Thirty seven year-old Phorn Sarith was killed on the morning of 19th December when Thai soldiers indiscriminately opened fires at a group of 25 Cambodian loggers.

Mr. Keo Pann said that the family of the victim had travelled to the area to retrieve his body. "The area is on top of the Dangrek Mountains and there is no village in that area, only forests. The family had climbed up to retrieve the body. They hadn't come back home yet, but the body has been retrieved", he said.

Mr. Van Kosal, Governor of Tropeang Prasat district, said the local authority had warned the people not to cross the borders into Thailand, but they still do because they are poor.

In the last two weeks, three Cambodian loggers had been killed by Thai soldiers with one person seriously wounded and had to creep nine days back to Cambodia without any food.

Since September, 6 Cambodian loggers had been killed by Thai soldiers, 2 wounded and one arrested.
