Malaysia has increased intakes of Khmer migrant workers fourfold comparing to the previous year, reports everyday.com.
Mr. Orn Bun Hak, chairman of the Association of Recruitment Agencies, said many international standard Malaysian companies had recruited 50,000 Cambodian workers to work in Malaysia in 2009, a fourfold increase from the 2008 intakes. Malaysia companies are recruiting Khmer workers at the rate of 3000-4000 people per month, comparing to 200-300 workers recruited by Thai companies to work in Thailand.
Mr. Orn Bon Hak said, the increase in the intakes of Cambodian migrant workers by Malaysian companies was attributed to the directives No. 1452 signed by Prime Minister Hun Sen on 26th of October 2009 which make it easier for foreign companies to recruit Khmer workers to work overseas.
