Ex-U.S President Jimmy Carter to visit Cambodia

Ex-U.S President Jimmy Carter (pictured) and his wife will pay a private visit to Cambodia to inspect housing constructions by the Habitat for Humanity Organisation, reports Khmer Sthapana.

Habitat for Humanity Orgainsation Cambodia's Office has released a statement on 3oth October saying that Mr. Jimmy Carter and Mrs. Rossalyn Carter will pay a visit to the housing construction sites along the Mekong River patronaged by the ex-presidential couple called "Building the Mekong" project.

The ex-presidential couple's Cambodian visit will start from 16th to 20th November as part of their 5-nation tour of Mekong countries to inspect the project including Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and China.

During their 5 days stay in Cambodia, Mr. Carter's family and 300 international volunteers will build 21 houses in Oudong town in Kandal province to accommodate 21 families evicted from Stung Meanchey Rubbish Tip in Phnom Penh.

Mr. Jimmy Carter is a patron of the the Habitat for Humanity Organisation's housing projects for more than 3 years already in the Mekong region that have helped thousands of people who are living along the Mekong River.

According to the press release, the Carters and 300 international volunters will build 166 homes for people settling on the banks of the Mekong River in Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and China.
